Parc architectes rethinks the workspace in the era of flexible lifestyles, delivering offices that are 100% convertible into housing—a first in France. Their typology is domestic, with shallow floor plans that bathe both current workspaces and future living areas in natural light. The seven office floors open entirely onto continuous balconies, deeper on the south side to provide shade during summer. The lightweight wooden façade, with a generous alternation of windows and French doors, acts as a filter for natural ventilation. The concrete slabs are active: their thermal mass ensures summer coolness and serves as heating in winter, with a central reserve on each floor anticipating future bathroom installations. Typically reserved for offices, a ceiling height of 2.7 m will reciprocally enhance the quality of the future residential spaces. In addition to concrete and bio-sourced wood on the façade, Parc opts for minimally processed, familiar materials—wood, wool, metal, cotton—avoiding synthetic and plastic materials often associated with offices, and contributing to well-being. By designing offices alongside future apartments, Parc makes tangible the reciprocal qualities of work and living spaces, echoing lessons from the health crisis: a more domestic workspace fosters calm collaboration in a healthy environment.
